  • The third LED screen is a task system. Due to the different schedules of competitions in different competition areas every day, this large screen will coordinate the scheduling of events in various venues in a time-line manner to ensure the orderly progress of events.
  • The fourth LED screen is responsible for the presentation of real-time information such as weather and traffic. Some events of the Winter Olympics are outdoor events, which are greatly affected by the weather. The traffic conditions of the cities where the events are held will also be affected by the competition schedule. The information can provide decision-making basis for the headquarters for the occurrence of emergencies.

In order to achieve the smooth holding of the Winter Olympics, as early as 2019, the venues that hosted the Winter Olympics began to undergo a series of upgrades. On October 28, 2021, the upgrading and renovation project of the National Stadium “Bird’s Nest” was completed, marking the completion of all competition venues and non-competition venues responsible for the Beijing Winter Olympics. And this upgrade is of course indispensable to the stadium’s large LED screen that presents the stadium situation to the audience and provides the referee with a scoring basis.

The National Stadium “Bird’s Nest” undertook the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2022 Winter Olympics. During the venue upgrade, the Bird’s Nest installed electronic screens of different sizes in the audience area. 90 small and medium-sized electronic screens surround the stand area, presenting a clearer viewing effect. , which is convenient for viewers at a distance to watch. The adjacent National Aquatics Center “Ice Cube” has also been upgraded with the same venue display system.

A 170-square-meter large screen has been added to the east side of the stadium, which will not only present the game screen to the audience on the other three stands, but will also combine the “curling motion track capture” technology in the stadium to display real-time video on the big screen. Displaying the movement trajectory of curling, it is convenient for the audience and referees to understand the game situation on the field, which can improve the experience of watching the game, and also assist the athletes to observe and judge.

The National Gymnasium, known as the “Sail of Ice”, is being renovated. In order to enhance the audience’s sensory effects, in addition to updating the displays on the north and south sides of the original main stadium, curved screens have been added in the center of the stadium. The entire curved bucket screen is composed of 4 single screens with a length of 8 meters and a height of 4.5 meters. In order to facilitate the referees and athletes to understand the game information in time through the bucket screens, the project department has specially inlaid 4 pieces of 2.5 meters wide inside the bucket screens. , 1.5 meters high small screen.

Compared with the traditional bucket screen, the bucket screen used in the National Gymnasium adopts a convex curved surface design, and the viewing angle of each screen of the audience has increased from 160 degrees to 172 degrees in the past. The bucket screen system consists of four main screens and four inner screens on the inside. The single-sided main screen covers an area of ​​36 square meters, and the overall system display area reaches 160 square meters. It is currently the world’s first-class and Asia’s largest curved bucket screen system.

The Beijing Wukesong Sports Center, which will host the Winter Olympics ice hockey game, has fully upgraded the central bucket screen system in the original venue.
